Layer Like a Pro!

So now you want to layer! Under the tropics!...For What?!

Look Queens don't get me wrong, but a layered look under 22°C(minimum),when  you go on foot  or take Benskin,Opep(Cameroonian version of taxi, sorry there is no metro here!), Keke,Okada(Nigerian version) or Zem(Benin republic version) and without a washing machine at home ! You better be sure it really worth it before embarking on that journey oooh!

Still there?
Ok ! It simply means you are an African Queen with all its implications .

In fact we all like to mix and match clothes to make them look new-ish; we like to layer without looking “bigger” than we actually are and we never refuse styling tips to help stretch our wardrobe (or to find more excuses to wear our favourite dresses more often). So we all want to be layering pros .

Let's see below  some key pointers to master this trend in accordance with our realities.

How to choose your layers
No need to go for an extra shopping to rock this trend.Actually it's all about revisiting your wardrobe through a new approach.
When layering, the under-layers have to be more fitted to keep your shape looking slim.

More over, length and proportion is key.Usually the longer pieces of clothing are towards the bottom of the layer.

You better play with texture. It’s best to incorporate a mix of materials when styling a layered look.

How to wear them?
A perfectly layered look will compliment your curves and create the illusion of a more proportional silhouette. This art amounts in 3 steps.

Always Start with a basic
It may be a lightweight top or a fitted dress . I suggest a solid, something neutral, or striped.

Add another layer
The second piece to put on top may be  a soft cardigan or sweater (sweater dress allowed). If you’re into colour, this can be a great opportunity to mix in a bold pullover to give your outfit more intrigue and depth.

Done? Not really.Queens, layering clothes is about putting tones of clothes together with style! That's why you should put at least 3 garments. 2 garments ! I Never said it would be that easy. You really do cheat with the trend here! I mean really!

Add the third and last piece
Your last piece may be a jacket or a coat . Again, I suggest a basic colour: red, camel, black, navy, or even olive green.

Remember Queens, we are on an adapted version of the trend for us right here, but the truth is you can even wear more than 3 pieces. That's if you're sure the heat isn't unbearable, then there won't be any problem .

KMS Special advice
On  adding a scarf to the look as a fourth piece
Elsewhere It’s considered as a must ! like the frosting on a cupcake. As the sweater dress this option is to be considered for very chilly weather even under the tropics.
The belt
If you’re concerned about your waistline, try to top off your look with something belted.
on accessories and colours
Bold colours and accessories enhance layers.

For which style?
slacks
Preppy

We love this preppy combination of a plaid shirt(Ndlr We plead for Plaid), layered sweater, blazer and bold strands of pearls.

Wear this to work with navy or gray slacks, or with jeans for a casual Friday or weekend look.

 Classic

The most classic combination will be a cardigan belt with a little dress, and a scarve to finish the look. But let's have some fun and try something else.

Go get   your maxi stripped dress. On top put a printed blouse(the silky one), you might need to refresh your memory on mixing prints tips (Ndlr C'est la nouvelle année... Mélangez!).Your last item is your jacket or your blazer.Match it to your dress to avoid a busy bushy look.Statement heels  to finish the look.

Girly
Bustier (Ndlr Bust Booster) and bralette over layering shirt have been a must this year.
But according to us the most outstanding combination was definitely the peplum top(Ndlr The Perfect Peplum) on a shirt or a bodycon dress.
The peplum top tend to bring a twist in the look.

Minimalist

It's true one of the reasons why we want to layer clothes is to show off the contrast between different colors and cuts.Wearing the same colour for all your layers may quickly become dull and boring.   However , when rightly done tone on tone can be of the ultimate chic.Airy,Monochromatique, simple, structured and you got the key.

That's all for today Ladies, now is your turn to layer like pros!
