Tall Style !

Hello Queens!
Long time since the last article...our sincere apologies.
Today's article is an answer to a special request coming from  one of our readers few months ago...
First we thought of looking for a video adressing the challenges concerning what to wear when you're a tall woman ,but quickly we understood that finding a good video treating of this subject was as difficult as collecting water in a raffia basket. So we decided to write an article instead!

Ok Ladies, first  you must know that you look pretty tall already if you have at least 5'7''. Now above that measure, there is no more doubt left!

How to choose your garment?
For you tall ladies the only true rule  is:LENGTH MATTERS!
It may sound obvious for others but for you this criteria tends to be vital!
THE BRAND ALLEY!
As a tall woman you will frequently  experience the problem of  getting clothes to fit in terms of length where others can take things to the tailors to get a few inches of fabric cut off. For less stress, avoid common French, Italian, Spanish and Asian brands, which are made small and often too short. We look  rather for American, German and Canadian brands, made on bigger models (as Banana Republic, Boss, Calvin Klein, Elie Tahari, Theory and Steilmann).

CROPPED IS NOT FORBIDDEN
Of course you can't think of settle for trousers that are too short for your legs as this will look like you have borrowed someone else’s clothes! But don't get me wrong it doesn't mean you can't wear cropped pieces .

In fact in many cases you're even lucky for you can wear many current fashionable trouser styles that some of your shorter counterparts would not be able to get away with .It's the case with looser cropped cuffs where the cuff falls just below the knee giving your legs more depth. Wear them with soft loose fabrics up top. Other styles you could try would be peg and harem styles which finish just above the ankle, yet the softer shapes on the leg mean that they flatter your tall figure. Pegs are a great work wear update whilst harems are more dressy for evening wear with chunky strappy heels.

How to wear them?
BALANCE YOUR FIGURE
It’s a good idea to always create balance in your figure especially for tall ladies, so that you don’t look like your body goes endlessly up and down. Use belts over layered tops, cardigans and jackets to break up the body.
Another interesting alternative is high waisted pieces such as high waisted trousers and skirts. They will highlight your fantastic legs whilst ensuring you show off your waist. Team with softer tops in chiffons and silks that fit loosely and finish off with some bangles and a statement necklace to add points of interest around the body and create the illusion of more curves.

KMS Special advice
As for tops , If you’re tall and slim with a boyish frame, look to create more womanly curves with your outfit choices. Use frills, ruffles and patterns up top to create the illusion of a bust and waist.
Turtle necks tops, are a good choice to cut some inches to your silhouette.

BE COLOR WISE
Try to avoid block colour from head to toe if you feel 'too tall' for it; unless you are going to break it up with accessories otherwise you may look too up and down.
However, few exceptions to this rule:maxi dresses,jumpsuits,two-tone dresses  and tunic dresses.

Two-tone dresses are  a great option for you as they will give you instant balance to the body by highlighting your waist.Tunic dresses with dropped waists and ruches will add some womanly curves to your figure and break up the length of your body.
BE CAREFULL WITH PRINTS
Definitively avoid vertical stripes .They tend to elongate you the more! instead prefer horizontal ones especially if you're slim.
Do not fear to put on bold and large prints in fact they suit you  most.

BE ACCESSORY WISE
My dear tall Queens! don’t always feel like you have to wear flats!

There’s nothing sexier than a tall woman in heels who isn’t afraid to show off that height.
Use statement necklaces to break up the length of your long torso and create more interest in your outfits. Accessories are great for giving the eye a point of interest and on a long body this will mean that the eye has lots to attract its attention to and detract from the height.

You can get away with large statement shoppers and maxi clutches and should go for these styles rather than small bags which look too small next to your tall body.

For which style?
Casual
Your maxi skirt is out .Pair it with a top under a denim jacket(Ndlr Denim jacket).Finish the look with flats and an oversize shopper. You may also put under your denim jacket a maxi dress instead.

Casual chic
Don’t be afraid to try skinny or cigarette styles which are usually cut longer in the length. They will show off your long pins perfectly and offer a leaner silhouette. Wear with a looser chiffon vest that falls just on or below the waist to create a modern look. If you’ve got good legs don’t be afraid to go for modern tailored shorts with t-shirts and blazers . Look for longer length blazers which are a key trend right now and layer over t-shirts and shirts with the sleeves rolled up for a more casual take on this classic piece.  Finish the look with flats, boots, sneakers or even heels (little ones).

Girly
Here we will play with a classic skater dress or a flared midi skirt(Ndlr Midi Me) over a classic shirt. Pair with heels or flats for a classic look.Do not hesitate to play with floral pattern and polka dots for a vintage touch.

Chic
Try a  nice white low waisted flare trouser with a long sleeves striped top. Finish the look with flats.
Another option is high waisted flared trouser. It looks elegant and chic on tall women with a small heel, with a blouse or tee tucked in to the waistband. Put over a channel jacket or any tailored tweed jacket.

KMS Special note
Trousers with soft pleats or pockets on the hips will also add shape to your legs.

Ok Queens! that's all for today, who says tall means no style!
