Ok ladies i must admit this one was very tough  for me...Do Queens color block? ...Are you sure we have to write on this one !

I know we said in a previous article(ndlr Let's try pastels)that under the tropics we love colors and boldness.But even for me the coloured creamy piece of cake at your left is a no-no and you guessed ! colorblocking trend always reminds me of it.

It's also true that from a general observation and despite my personal preferences, colorblocking trend comes to stay.So we do have an interest in finding a way to cope with it gently.That's why we shall see how to make all this colors work for the Queen that you are,for sure without ever feeling uncomfortable or cookie-cutter.

First the color wheel

To Color block is to create an outfit by joining bright and  bold,contrasted and complementary  blocks of colors together.

At your left, is a colored wheel used for a better  understanding of the colorblocking fashion concept.

1)the complementary approach: wear  one color with its opposite in the wheel

2)the triad approach: wear 3 colors evenly appart from each other

3)the analogous approach:wear colors next to each other from the same family

Notice that the colors on this wheel  are basics .They only allow us to understand more effectively colorblocking. Actually the wheel could have many declensions or shades for the same families of colors !Once that's said , let's have some tips on how to wear color block according to our taste for colors or boldness.

Bold but not rainbow

If you're not too fond of coloured combinations but  still you like playing with colors, this section is for you.

• The complementary approach will definitely be your work base.Besides it's the easyest  way to color block.Our advice to you is to center your outfit in one color and wear the other for accessories.The accessory might be a colorblock one.

NB: 
Some critics consider as a no-no pairing a color with its exact opposite(the complementary approach) in the wheel (example : Green-red). 
We are not so categorical about it ,and tend to think that you just have to be careful when choosing. Sometimes those kind of combination can be awesome.

• The analogous approach can also work for you if you stay within the limit of 2 colors(ok  let's make it 3).Here our aim is to keep the look as light as possible. 

You will also keep in mind that  the more you lower the tones  less bold colors become,still you're rocking the trend.

• Cheating with pastels and pales

As I said earlier colorblocking is about wearing bold and bright. Nevertheless, if wheel colors are too bright for you, still remains the option of mixing bright with pales or even mixing pastels.Whe know you've a kind of cheating here but still you keep the spirit of the trend without being too flashy.

• The triad approach. Definitely this approach is for you without restriction.

It's  to be considered for those who are not so sure of their sense of colorblocking but still are fond of bold and bright colors.Queens your colorblock dress should have at least 2 colors . 

Noticed that when pairing you can also count beige as a colour.



FAQ
Can we use white or black as color when color blocking?

When you're doing so we consider you cheat with the concept,as we all agree that it isn't too difficult to fit  any color with black or white , them being neutrals.

Still they are accepted in a colorblock dress for example.

However, the dress must take only one of these 2 colors to associate with others bold ones,that's to keep the spirit of the trend. 

Do colors have to be always bright when colorblocking?
Not necessarily ,but when they aren't we are on the verge of the offside

Can we wear prints when color blocking?
It's a no-no , colorblocking is about mixing solid colors
